Review: Pacifica Vegan Lip Balm Trio
Pacifica is known for their vegan cruelty free products. As such, I wanted to give their line a try for a long time. So I saw this gift pack of vegan lip balms and did just that. You will find the scents intoxicating, the packaging one of a kind, just a quality product. Let’s start by looking at some of the ingredients:
Cocos nucifera (Coconut Oil): High in saturated fatty acids like linoleic and lauric acid. High in antioxidants like vitamin E. Has antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory properties. Some studies indicate that coconut oil helps strengthen the cells that make up the skin’s natural moisture barrier which reduces moisture loss and keeps skin balanced. Coconut oil may also boost collagen production which promotes a plump, hydrated complexion. Many of the saturated fatty acids such as linoleic acid absorb deep into the skin. This allows coconut oil to penetrate not just the outermost layer of the skin, but also the deeper layers, resulting in maximum hydration.
Euphorbia cerifera (Candelilla) wax: Thickener and emulsifier that adds texture to a formula and prevents oils and liquids from separating, which is great for lip balms and body balms. Used as a viable substitution for beeswax.
Olea europaea (Olive) fruit oil: High in vitamin E and fatty acids like oleic, palmitic, and linoleic acids which regenerates the skin. Also contains vitamin A, D, and K. Some studies suggest that olive oil may protect against free radical damage. An emollient and antioxidant that is extremely hydrating thanks to an ingredient, squalene. Protects against premature aging and manages sun damage. Moisturizes the skin by reducing water loss. Has anti-inflammatory properties which may speed up wound healing.
Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil: Emollient that softens and smooths skin. Hydrates the skin, delivers antioxidant protection and has anti-inflammatory properties. A wax ester that mimics natural sebum. Conditions and seals in moisture in the skin without clogging pores. Rich in vitamin E which defends the skin against oxidative damage. Loaded with B vitamins, it is an excellent wound healer.
Ricinus communis (castor) seed oil: Chock full of vitamin E, omega 6 fatty acids, and ricinoleic acid, castor oil is widely regarded as a great hydrator. Has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. Its moisturizing effects are particularly good for chapped lips along with dry hands and feet. Protects against wrinkles and stimulates collagen and elastin production, which can soften and hydrate the skin. Known for its healing properties for skin conditions such as eczema, rosacea, and psoriasis. Fights bacteria ending the cyclical nature of itching and irritation.
The first thing you notice about the lip balm is the packaging. The containers resemble lipstick. Each lip balm has its own unique scent. There is Rainbow Watermelon, Bali Coconut, and Rose Water. The scent is slight, not overpowering thank goodness. Although it would be a pleasant surprise if your lips tasted like the corresponding names.
The lip balm glides on very easy. It isn’t a glossy lip balm which you walk away with shiny sucking-on-an-oil-bottle effect. It is a smooth finish where your lips feel conditioned and moisturized. Most of all, it seals in hydration for a long time where you don’t have to worry about reapplying it. The lip balm might provide a nice base coat for lipstick if you choose to go that route. It is super comfortable to wear and feels velvety on the lips. I wonder if I can use it other places to moisturize like my eyebrows or around my nose because those areas often dry out.
The thing I liked the most about the lip balms was that it didn’t dry out my lips and make them flakier then they usually are. My lips didn’t peel with dry skin after applying which sometimes happens with other lip balms on the market. And I still felt it on my lips hours later. Didn’t need to reapply just yet. The lip balm leaves a soft subtle shine on my lips. It doesn’t feel caked on, sticky or weird. The smells for each one of the balms is delightful.
The lip balm does a good job in terms of protecting your lips from the elements. The balms go on light but offer just the right amount of nourishment. Don’t be afraid to go outside with it on your lips. You won’t regret it.
I don’t have to worry about an allergic reaction this lip balm because it uses pure natural ingredients. As a person who has had problem skin her entire life, this is definitely a plus. The formula doesn’t just sit on the surface like other balms do but it actually absorbs into your lips.
So would I buy it again? Yes, I would because of the ingredients, smell and availability of the products. Did I mention the decorative packaging? Pacifica is well regarded in terms of sustainability and price. It’s vegan and cruelty free. What’s not to love about this product? It makes my lips juicy and the price point for three lip balms at $10.00 can’t be beat.
Overall I would encourage you to try these lip balms because its formula is creamy and long-lasting with refreshing scents that are not cloying. So when you get a chance please pick up a box of Pacifica’s Vegan Lip Balm treatment. Your lips will thank you.
