Review: Acure Radically Rejuvenating Under Eye Hydrogels
It’s review time again. It’s been a while since I’ve done one. So here goes. This time I test out Acure Radically Rejuvenating Under Eye Hydrogels. To start, this is 100 percent vegan, 0 percent questionable as the package boasts.
I’ve purchased Acure products before so it’s a brand that I trust with top-notch ingredients. Acure is known for being an eco-friendly company that sells quality products. The price of the hydrogels is just right at $4.99.
Let’s look at some of those ingredients:
Water: Great hydrator which is used as a solvent in cosmetics and personal care items. Helps maintain skin’s elasticity. Improves skin tone, prevents premature aging, faster healing, reduces puffiness, prevents acne, no dry, itchy skin, tighter skin (no sagging), maintains pH balance, prevents heat-related skin eruptions, and promotes healthy gut (meaning clear skin).
Glycerin: Colorless and odorless liquid from plant sources. Humectant that retains moisture and hydrates the skin. Especially effective on dry spots like callouses. Colorless and odorless liquid from plant sources. It can relieve skin dryness and refresh the skin’s surface. It’s an emollient that softens skin. Pulls water from the air to keep skin hydrated and reduces water loss. Improves the appearance of rough, dry skin. Firms the skin for a more youthful appearance.
Albizia julibrissin (Persian silk tree) bark extract: Boosts cell energy, revitalizes tired skin, supports the skin’s natural detoxification process and tightens weak contours for a fresh, smooth complexion. Protects collagen and elastin and reduces skin fatigue caused by glycation (when proteins hook up with sugars which can lead to wrinkles and sagginess). Protects skin cells by producing melatonin and reducing the signs of glycation.
Kojic acid: Derived from mushrooms, this acid is great for hyperpigmentation and dark spots. Inhibits an enzyme necessary in the production of melanin, helping to fade discoloration. It also delivers antioxidant protection. Can be used in place of hydroquinone as a skin brightener, but can be combined with it to be a potent skin lightening agent. Lightens existing sunspots and photodamage, fades the dark marks left from acne scarring or after a pimple and can improve melasma (dark spots on the face).
Hydrolzed soy protein: An anti-aging ingredient. Has a positive influence on the moisture balance of the skin. Fills in unevenness and wrinkles from the inside. Ensures a smooth, firm appearance. Contains conditioning properties for the skin. Brings a youthful and glowing radiance to your skin.
Aloe barbadensis leaf juice: Contains aloin, a compound which has anti-inflammatory properties. Also contains metallothionein, an antioxidant protein that has a protective effect against skin exposed to UV rays as well as vitamins A and C. Used to treat burns, acne, dry skin, and other skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. Helps with future lines and wrinkles. Treats dandruff for hair and scalp. The plant is very hydrating and moisturizing. Has another compound aloesin, which studies show might be effective with post-acne hyperpigmentation. Aloe may stimulate the production of hyaluronic acid, collagen, and elastin fibers in the skin which keeps skin firm and supple.
The first thing you notice about the eye discs is that it isn’t slimy or soggy like some other eye products. I didn’t have to fiddle with it for long when it came to application. It is a pretty straight forward process.
I sat with the discs on longer than the recommended 15-20 minutes. I wanted to test out whether or not the feel of them was noticeable or whether or not I would have to worry about them falling off. Surprisingly the eye discs deliver because they didn’t budge a bit.
The discs are not damp and dry in place once you apply it to the desired location. I also wanted to get an idea of whether or not my pores would tighten with the discs and I could feel them tightening just a little bit.
I also noticed a slight fragrance which wasn’t off-putting and didn’t linger too long. As a person who has suffered with eczema, I try to steer clear of heavily fragranced products because usually that means too much additives which spell skin irritation on the horizon.
So I waited for these eye discs to do their magic. Once I removed them, I did notice that the under eye areas did feel somewhat tighter. My face was shiny around that area, almost glistening.
The lines around my eyes seemed diminished which is bananas because I really didn’t expect that much from a product that retails less than $5.00. I think the aloe vera helped a lot as an ingredient in terms of nourishing my delicate eye area. I was a bit concerned because there wasn’t a lot of familiar ingredients at the top of the list but the best gift was a nonallergic reaction.
One notable saving grace was that glycerin was the second ingredient on the list which is wonderful in terms of moisture retention. I seem to do really well when it comes to face products that contain that particular ingredient.
There were no oils high on the list to clog my pores or recognizable emollients which turned out to be a saving grace. I didn’t realize how much of my products contain that until you are hit with a product that doesn’t have all the usual bells and whistles.
My skin didn’t feel itchy or irritated in the least which is high on my list of moisturizers that work for my skin. Even though the eye discs are supposed to used just once, I’m going to see if I can squeeze another use out of it before discarding.
This product is a godsend in a way because it is a vegan product so you really are getting something that is plant-based and healthy for your skin. Minimal ingredients that give your skin a dewy and shiny glimmer. Yes please!
Would I buy this product again? Absolutely. I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to use. It wasn’t drippy or gloppy or just plain messy. The upside to this kit there was no inconvenience that you have to endure like a sloppiness in order to end up with less fine lines and wrinkles.
I honestly have no complaints regarding this product except I should have gotten two instead of just one. I would highly recommend these hydrogels to anyone who wants to experience a bit of luxury in a budget-friendly way.
I would say, bottom line, this product does what it claims to regarding your delicate under eye area. It smooths out the lines and plumps your skin out without overly drying out your face. And that’s key in my book. So if you want to work a miracle, I suggest you purchase this product as soon as possible.
