Conquering Constipation

‍ ‍

What I am about to say is very TMI, but its my blog so I will disclose my business as much as I like, thank you very much. Lately it has been a battle in making bowel movements. Before you ask, yes I eat lots of fiber in the form of dried fruit and kale DAILY. Okay so I move something, just not enough. Look, I told you it would get messy with it but this might be helpful to someone out there. 😒 Remember the song, plop plop, fizz fizz, oh what a relief it is? You just want relief knowing everything is fine down there.

‍ ‍

Technically, I don’t meet the requirement for constipation, which is fewer than three bowel movements a week. According to the New England Journal of Medicine, the condition results in more than 2.5 million visits to physicians, 92,000 hospitalizations, and laxative sales of several hundred million dollars a year. Ugh! Low income, limited education, physical inactivity, symptoms of depression, and a history of sexual abuse can be risk factors for constipation. And constipation is more prevalent in women, nonwhites, children, and the elderly.

I already know high fiber diet is the way to go. This morning I had a little more dried strawberries than usual. We’ll see if I have to go the laxative route. Did I tell you I’m a worry wart?!🤞
